Why Exclusion ≠ Extermination The Hole Stays. The Mice Don't.

The traps don't fix the problem.

— Field principle, Apex Exclusion

Traditional pest control kills rodents already inside — but more follow through the same holes. Exclusion physically blocks every gap and crack, giving you a permanent, around-the-clock barrier.

No ongoing chemical treatments. No traps to maintain. Just a sealed, protected structure.

The Two Approaches Side-by-side

One treats the room.
The other seals the structure.

Approach A

Extermination

  • ×Kills what's already inside
  • ×Same entry points stay open
  • ×Ongoing chemical treatments
  • ×Recurring service contracts
  • ×Traps to bait, check, replace
  • ×Next colony walks the same path
vs.
Approach B

Exclusion

  • Closes the path of entry
  • Permanent, mechanical barrier
  • No ongoing chemicals indoors
  • One job. Done right. Done once.
  • No traps. No bait. No maintenance.
  • Apex Exclusion Guarantee included
Anatomy of a Rodent Entry Point Cross-section · Residential

Where they actually get in.

A typical home offers a rodent twenty-plus structural openings — soffit gaps, attic vents, plumbing penetrations, utility chases, foundation cracks. Most pest companies never inspect them. We map every one.

Construction type changes the entry path. On a brick home, rats and mice scale the mortar joints like a ladder and slip in at the roofline — soffits, fascia gaps, and attic vents. On a sided home, they squeeze behind loose or warped panels, exploit gaps at J-channels and trim corners, and chew through the soft foam or wood beneath. We inspect both — and seal both.

Common Questions Rodent Exclusion FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions.

How long does the job take?

Most single-family homes are completed in one day. Larger properties or homes with significant roofline work may take longer. We'll give you a time estimate during the inspection.

Do I need to be home during the service?

No. All of our work is performed from the exterior of the home. As long as we have access to the property, you do not need to be present.

Will the sealing be visible or affect how my home looks?

Our materials are applied to blend with existing surfaces where possible. We use clear OSI sealant, color-matched hardware mesh, and materials sized for each gap. The work is functional first, but we take care to keep it clean and professional looking.

How soon after service will I notice a difference?

There is typically a 30-day adjustment period. Rodents already inside may continue to show activity as they search for exits. After 30 days, activity should drop significantly. If it does not, contact us.

Does exclusion work for both mice and rats?

Yes. The same entry points that mice use are also exploited by rats — they just require larger gaps. Our inspection covers both and our materials are rated for either.

What if new entry points develop after the job is done?

Our guarantee covers the specific areas sealed during your service. New entry points that develop due to structural changes, settling, landscaping, or construction are not covered, but we are happy to return for a follow-up inspection.

Do you offer free inspections?

Yes. We offer a free property inspection before any work begins so you know exactly what you are dealing with and what the job entails before committing.

What is OSI sealant and is it safe?

OSI is a professional-grade exterior sealant. It will leave behind a temporary odor after application and takes up to 72 hours to fully cure. Once cured it is safe for people and pets.
